Superheroes (Senses and Prepositions)

Blankets are pulled over
a frown that smiles in dim torch light -
impatient rustles of brittle paper are
audible over Phantom footsteps,
ever so slight.

A shadow looms outside
the pencilled grin of an unlocked door -
suspicious looks Flash in evil delight;
visible only to the darkness,
the Green Lanterns of sight.

Doctor Strange steps through
rusty hinges that whine and scream -
His wheezy breathing is stifled
in the familiar fear and gassy stench
of Gotham's black and blue.

As the batteries cough into
darkness and thunder -
under cover and onto slumber -
Obsidian recites a whisper of wonder:
"Evil villain, only you can see you!"

ramon

excellent!

dolly still writes better though.

KC

You sound like marco.

ramon. we ain't friends no more.

that is about the meanest thing anyone has ever said to me on here.

Ooohoo

we can dish it out, but we can't take it?
hahaha, that's funny.
KC, you commented on this post yesterday...hence my comment.
Get the yellow pages and sit on it, that way you won't have to use your nose as a 'head rest' on your computer desk.

ramon

you know i love you. but was just having a "where the fuck is dolly" moment.

all good.

you coming to the blog-orgy?

blog-orgy?!

I am married , KC.
I have two beautiful children.
No. No, I'm not coming to the blog-orgy.
I would, however, consider going to a blood-orgy if you happen to know about anybody organizing one, I would go..

Ramon

I think your nuts might be getting dusty in your wife's handbag.

Deks

and the credit card takes a slice of the action too.
It's a no-win situation, really.

blood-orgy

ramon - you could just be a voyeur....

blood orgy?

mm. no. but i do know someone who cuts herself a lot.

No thanks, KC

I'm not into that.
Gross.

dusty nuts, ramona

dusty, dusty, dusty.

You called?

.

no no Dusty

we were just talking about Ramona's redundant nuts.

Hey Ramona

Reminds me of staying up at night reading Batman comics with a torch under my blanket and my dad sneaking up on us. Very cool.

Fluts

That's the feeling that triggered this one - I can still smell the paper, remember the billions of particles of dust as I moved the torch under the duvet, wondering if maybe ten million of them could be part of a dead person.
I would then run and jump into my mother's bed!

Ramon

Fluts has got it right...except I listened to 'Ten o'clock Tales' on Springbok Radio - with a torch.

Thanks for the flashback!

Jislaaik Fluts - your dad is cruel! I would have platzed if my dad had snuck up on me...those stories were skeeeeeery.

Nah Dust :-)

My dad was cool. We were always staying too late and then could not get up for school. Doyou remember trading comics at school. Comics were forbidden reading at our school so it was a bit like trading drugs - all undercover like.

And Ramon ja, those were good days, innocent days - carefree is alot of ways. All you had to worry about is what you were gonna play the next day.

Flutts we were underprivileged kids

comics were banned in our house.

Strictly an Enid Blyton and Beatrix Potter upbringing. We only got TV in 1982. And then it was a b/w portable.

And you know what? I wouldn't change it.

Hey Dust...

Remember those too. Must say I had no shortage of reading material as a kid and no, somethings I wouldn't change for the world.

Fluts - looks like our folks wanted to avoid this situation:

heeheee Dust...

You know we laugh but thats how its starts...

Fluts

The high-lite of my month was reciving in the mail, a British magazine called "Jackie". I pulled out the centrefolds and plastered them all over my room. My Dad also got a Time magazine subscription....I remember one photo that stood out for me, well, it shocked me, was of a Vietnamese woman wheeping over a wrapped up body....

Wow Nos..

Thats some heavy duty reading for a kid. Don't forget Readers Digest. We had lots of those. In fact my bedtime stories (which were rare) were usually read from them.

Yeah fluts

We also had RD's in the house. Think they are everywhere. If the NSA cant find you, RD will.
We also had comics and novels...everything basically.
I used to also lie in bed reading with a torch. Aahh...the good ole days :)

Dusty

Do you remember listening to "Squad cars" and "Taxi" on Springbok radio? Also John Berkes on LM radio.....

Nos - Yes!

and 'Father Dear Father', 'Men from the Ministry', Check your Mate', 'The Mind of Tracy Dark', 'Jet Jungle', 'Test the Team'...and the Goons, with Ron and Eth.

Muffin

The Goons was the BEST...read this carefully now...rampasathurrybyspoonelal-v-makergi...the indian fella...remember? "It's most extra-ordinary difficult to park an elephant"...Eckles....

Jeesus, Dusty.

How old are you?!
Just kidding.
Is there a place you can download them, maybe?
That would be awesome.
I downloaded loads of old Sherlock Holmes stories on BBC the other day. The sound is kak which make it even more interesting!

Piss off Junior

Every now and then there's talk of resurrecting the oldies on an independent radio station, but then it runs out of steam and/or money.

That would be awesome. But we'd probably find it all soooo corny now.

Like...have you seen any A-Team, MacGyver or Knight Rider reruns?

But then again, you're probably too young to remember them from first time round - when 7.30 was past your bedtime.

I remember those shows, Dusty

junior was never interested. I enjoyed watching my drunk stepfather go,"Fokkit, maar daai Michael Knight kan fight!" or "Jirre, daai MacGuyver is slim bliksem!"
Needless to say, I left home at an early age.

Oh my, oh my, oh my

Ramona. I agree with Frals. You keep getting better and better and better. This is excellent. Fukkin' excellent.

Ramon

Well Done!

PS: Thats not me :)

Dolceroonie and Semi

Thanks for that.
You make me want to write more.

Ramon

You keep writing and I'll keep googling gold stars for you :)

ag ramon

just logged on to see what you had put up today.

glad i did.

ciao.

KC

I actually had you in mind when writing this.
You and your Superheroes and graphic novels.
I found the graphic novel you recommended in Bangkok; a little pricey unfortunately.
It smelled good, though!

haha ramon

email me your address and i'll post you mine.

No worries, KC.

That won't be right.
Besides, I'm saving...
