Indulgence
Cha-cha’s brilliant green eyes watch me lazily from her favourite spot on the duvet as she basks in the glorious sun that streams through my bedroom window on winter afternoons.
The bed beckons and I, replete and relaxed after a delicious Sunday meal, cannot resist its softly plumped up embrace. Pan has opted to work off his lassitude in the water, but for me, this particular ritual is priceless beyond measure.
The cat mews in protest as my body encroaches upon her territory, but the invitation to curl up under the featherbed duvet with me serves as a more-than-adequate bribe. Hot, velvety black fur tickles my body as she settles in next to my ribcage; her purrs vibrating against my skin as I caress the naked pads of her feet. We are connected, she and I.
Captured in the wooden window frame, tall palm trees wave languorously against an azure sky. A translucent veil of cloud trails lightly behind an invisible bride and gradually fades from my view.
Light refracts off the ornamental crystal bowl that sits on my dressing table and paints rainbows on the bedroom wall. The room seems to glow - if it were possible - in inaminate pleasure.
Birds sing out sporadically from the tall trees outside, but they - like me and my apparently boneless feline companion - are content to simply doze in the winter sun for an hour or two.
That infusion of warmth and well-being is the sweetest indulgence I can imagine and I treat myself every weekend.

Mmmmm TL
I'm a big fan of the sunday afternoon snooze too.
Wow TL
Beautifully written!
I have those naps with my poodytats too.
Except they sleep on top of me.
All three of them. The purring makes me tingle all over.
Bloody marvelous.

Three cats is a lot of feline company!
Ja TL
They are all rescue efforts and just so darn cute I couldn't resist.
They are the most affectionate bunch you've ever seen. They could be dogs.

At the risk of sounding like a dreaded cat-lady, I have to admit that I credit cats with more brains and certainly better manners than dogs. Also, their nature is dictated by the way they're raised, so affectionate can definitely be a cat thing too as opposed to the popular belief that cats are aloof.
hehe Flutts
good thing you're not a crazy cat lady or anything.
(also a good thing that you're all the way down there in CT at the moment, I think)
yep lils
and your visiting musketeer mates are happy to allow you a somewhat condensed version thereof, while partaking of the same pleasure on a wintery saturday afternoon!
li'l ole cha-cha sure packs a whallop of loving caress... i still have the surface wounds to prove it.... i kid you not!
Morti!
How nice of you to pop in. Yeah, you were a wonderfully easy "guest" (nah, more like family!). As to the wounds...never known you to carp about a few scratches inflicted in passion! Hope Diablo was impressed.
lils! CHEEKY bugger *snort*
pffffft. there was a time...
you remember?
when el diablo might not have been as easily convinced of cha-cha's responsibility in the matter!
erm. long ago, far-far away.
my boys (and ?) are losing the touch dammit!
and... if we'd hung around for another wee drammie of multana/muskadel on the 'visit', i would have been even easier - as a guest, that is.
ahem.
*insert grin with lots of exposed teeth*

Am feeling quite tuckered myself right now. The berg wind that's been blowing for days doesn't help either. Happy napping!

This is lovely and serene. I also like lying in the winter sun but still very much a summer person.

I am also a summer child, hence my enjoyment of any warmth that winter choses to dole out!
