Auction of Abandoned Vehicles
The City of Cape Town is auctioning 75 abandoned vehicles on 27 August. From trailers and trucks to motorbikes and Mercs. There’s even a Jag. And a Leyland Morris. Most with registration numbers.
So many questions…
Why have they been abandoned? Have they been reported as stolen and nobody’s joined the dots? Have they been impounded and the owner can’t afford the release fee?
What if I buy one and later discover that I’ve bought a stolen car? Will the city refund me, or will I forfeit the cash?
Oh sod it. I’ll just stick with my trusty old tjorrie.

I am curious now. Where is it being held and how does one go check it out?

Buy me a motorbike please, willya? Thanks :)
I think most 'abandoned' cars are just those that have been impounded.
Here's another question - if your car is impounded does insurance pay you out for it? If not then wouldn't you want your car back instead of making repayments on a car you don't own?
Had me all excited there.
Damn. My car search continues. I'm enjoying this. Taking my time. No rush. Until the magic car gives up again.
Good luck
The more choices available, the harder the decision.
And that's just deciding which colour you want.

Not too sure whether one wouldn't be buying a pig in a poke anyway as I doubt the Municipality has checked that they're roadworthy.

There is a paragraph in minuscule print about voetstoots, purchaser responsible for RWC, etc. But even if it is a dud, wouldn't it be nice to have a Jaguar in the driveway that cost 500 ZAR?
Yeah Dusts
It would sure be a talking point at braais!
