The Climb II
Ancient faces gaze,
eyes rock hard in summer’s sun;
shadow-moisture beards
cloning my stubble –
I enter the cave mouth, high,
obscured by beauty.
It swallows me whole,
“Migration pass expired!”
Winter funeral
takes me back to pools
of clarity and laughter,
short-lived happiness:
The Ancients beckon
(my assignment carved in stone) –
I answer their call.

Awesome picture (and bad boy for stealing it)
There is a waterfall in Howick (in the midlands). Not as magnificant as this but I think it is beautiful.
Here's another kak haiku :)
The thunderous roar
drowns my cries of depression
and waters me down
Oops

This kind of age-old majesty can make our puny lifespans, our "short-lived happiness" seem pretty silly. Amazing pic.
shew Ramon...

the pic and the poem...
Marijayn and Lily.
Thanks for the read. I was asked to enter this haiku competition on this poetry site and given this pic for inspiration. They wouldn't accept this poem. 'strictly 5-7-5', they said. 'Only three lines.'
So I wrote a crap haiku and stole their pic ;)
