One of the consequences of being tied up on the couch while three men ransacked my house has been a heightened sense of just about everything. Last week I startled at every little sound, my flight instinct was constantly at screaming pitch. No wonder I was exhausted. Adrenalin is a bitch. This week it’s presenting a little differently.

My flung came around last night. He was going to do a couple of boy things around my house and I was going to make dinner as an incentive/thank you. Watching him standing on a ladder deftly handling power tools I wasn’t sure why it had all drifted away in the first place. Okay, I’m lying, I knew exactly why, but I was willing to overlook it for an hour or two.

I’m sure there is a very simple scientific explanation for this, probably the same reason that there is a distinct rise in pregnancies after any major disaster. A hardwired compulsion to ensure the continuation of the species. Knowing the reason behind the desire to unleash my inner trollop is one thing. Managing her is something else completely.
