Car Review - 1982 Passat 1.6GL
Up yours AdminGuy. If you won't make a section for car reviews I'll do a review in any case. You may be asking yourself why a car review in the music section? Well there are two reasons for this:
1) That baby purred like a orchestra when she was running well.
2) Secondly the 45W PMPO after market sound system was certainly something to behold.
This car was a mid range family car aimed at the aspiring thirty something in its day. Fitted with a state of the art SOHC 1600cc engine with single down draught Weber carbs, performance was what could be regarded as brisk for its day. When I owned the car however, (15 years after its hey day) performance was less brisk. Initially handling was also impressive, but with worn shocks this was a beast of a car to handle on any corner above 30km/h.
Perhaps the most impressive part of the car was its cloth and vinyl upholstery. The vinyl was obviously selected specially for the South African market. Getting into the car on a hot day with any exposed skin coming into contact with the vinyl resulted in 2nd degree burns. Once your skin had absorbed all this heat and you began to sweat you could look forward to sliding around in the car as your body and the upholstery colluded to produce a sweaty slidy layer for you to sit on.
Spoegs.

Hahaha
ah man spoegs this is really good. I once was in a friends Valiant that refused to obey any command coming from the steering wheel. Geez man that car had personality.
Ja Vaps
Those older cars definitely had personality. What ever happened to the tradition of "Sunday afternoon drives"?
