It seems that GreenPeace have decided to open an office in Johannesburg to "to tackle climate change, deforestation and overfishing on the continent". Now I'm an environmentally concerned citizen but sometimes I think those okes actually do more harm than good.
apologies for the lack of caps lock on this post - this is from my phone. Big up to you two mother duckess (no predictive text for fuckers) for getting the site cell phone compliant if not friendly. Oi the caps lock is back! Had a few e.mail requests for me to post pictures of my fly eyes on olm. Would this be acceptable olm content?
The IT Okes had to make some changes to where info is stored on our IT system over the weekend. Needless to say this morning I battled to get hold of something pretty urgently. So its off to the IT okes to try and track the stuff down. After 30 seconds of small talk the IT oke and I are now trying to solve the problem of the missing stuff. I get the usual questions:
While brushing my teeth this morning I got to wandering. Yes - wandering around the bathroom bumping into stuff. As I knocked my shin against the toilet bowl for the third time, I asked myself:
So there I was - river bank on one side, crocodiles on the other. It struck me that I hadn't made love in an acacia tree for ages, and I wondered why oh why. On a completely different topic I 'd like to present today's blogword of the day:
It was lank cool! It dealt with the potential dark underworld of blogging and the CSI investigators were very clever to use blogs to solve a mystery. Those okes are able to really think parallel to solve these ingenious mysteries!
Having seen Clare's travel post I feel compelled to share a recent travelling experience. As the title implies travelling and this particular travelling experience is a true rejuvenation of the the sole.
Driving home from the office yesterday, I listened to our new president's inauguration speech. I listened with interest to his plans for the future and was intent to try and decipher how he's going to keep the ANC together going forward. I realised the difficult job that he faces in transforming what is essentially a struggle organization into a political organization.
My sincerest apologies again for not posting a Blogword of the Day for the last few days. My Kazakstani relatives have stayed a little longer than expected. Their flight was delayed last week due to technical problems on the Kazak side. Apparently while the plane was parked on the apron, a chicken made a nest in one of the engines and the bloody pilot started the engine without noticing this.
Having seen Dex's wildlife slant to his post today, I have decided to break some of my own rules a little bit today. Instead of being purely inspired by content here at OLM for the blogword, I've cast the net a little wider.
After missing out on Friday, Saturday and Sunday due to a surprise visit by my Kazakstani relatives, I do have a blogword of the day. And that word is:
Having reviewed KC 's plan to try and attract new blood to OLM - I decided that it was a pretty kak idea. Sorry KC - but if you want to convince me otherwise you're free to come and tongue my nads - but thats no guarantee that I'll change my mind.
Unfortunately I have absolutely no idea what the word means. Can someone please use this word in a sentence? I've tried and all I could come up with was:
"After the experience Harold felt particularly Scrofulous"
Admittedly it was a pretty fucking horrendous start to my new initiative here - second day and I didn't even post a word. My sincerest apologies for this.
In an attempt to grow the community, I am taking the initiative and introducing a new daily Blog Synopsis. I'd like to call the new innovation: Blogword of the Day. In essence this will entail me identifying the most descriptive or most cleverly used word on OLM every day.
Having reviewed the content on OLM, it has become blatantly obvious that there perhaps isn't a "sense of community" like there is on other blogging platforms. In order to address this I've put together what I refer to as "Spoegs's Challenge" - a set of questions that everyone can cut and paste into their own blog and answer at their leisure.
I know that my requests don't get taken seriously, but have I got a good suggestion this time. I'd like to suggest that you invite Tracy Macgregor as a guest writer here on OLM. Her writing might need some work - but I'm prepared to overlook this.
See an example of her work at http://www.gotravel24.com/theme/feature-focus/courcheval-icy-hot. This is hot stuff!
Having been around here for a little while now, I'm under the impression that people don't share enough song lyrics with each other. In an attempt put this right I'd like to share with you a song that really menas a lot to me. I'd like to take it one step further and explain to everyone (in quite a bit of detail why the song and its lyrics mean so much).
